ps. Chris is an amazing performer.
Bellatrix. I was thinking that I was not going to be able to make the show because it was on the Sunday marking the end of Thanksgiving break and I was planning to be in Seattle at that point, but the weather forced me to stay in Missoula. Originally Anita (the woman who put together the event and is pictured with the umbrella) had wanted me to be the photographer for the event, but I had to decline on the ground that I didn’t think that I would be in town. It was one of the few good things to come out of me being stuck in Missoula. Tonight I have been invited to the cast party to show the photos that I took of the performance. I am not too sure what to expect, but it seems like it will be pretty amazing.
Found another pair of vintage bloomers when visiting my parents again. I’m still trying to find a way to wear them practically in some kind of outfit. Since they poof out too much to wear under any of my pants without getting an awkward all around bulge I thought of trying the drooping pants worn below the ass. I only wish that my rubber braces were a bit longer so that they would help hold up my shorts.
Slowly but surely I am turning my apartment into a French bordello. I bought some really cheap green latex house paint to paint some stripes down the newspaper, but Stephanie made me remember that newspaper isn’t very thick and it would probably end up getting onto the wall behind. I’m already covering the walls in little holes that I am going to have to plaster up, I don’t think that housing will like me too much if I then put some green paint onto the walls. But really, fuck these white boring walls. It’s becoming easier and easier to start working on art in the living room now. Nothing like nesting.
One of the prints for my photography midterm. I couldn’t quite capture the yellowing of the lithprint with this photo, but oh well. Just ask and you can see it in person. I’m thinking once I get the pictures back from turning them in that I will add them to my walls. While in salsa dancing class I looked out the window and found that I am once again wanting to be in the looming confines of a city. Where the buildings tower above and block out chunks of the sky. Where you can go places and everyone is new. Its odd going to parties and hearing time and time again, ‘I keep seeing you.’ Just a few more days and I’ll again be in Seattle. I’m not too sure how to fill up a few days of showing Olivia about town, but I guess we will find things to do. It would help if she was at least 21, but maybe I can sneak her into a few places like the White Horse, I would hope the Can Can as well, but we will see. I wish that the film that French club showed the other night would have showed mo...
Venice is Sinking Masquerade Ball. Georgetown, Seattle. Cyanotype on watercolor paper.
Fox fur in a convenience store. Art nights and interesting characters.
Venice is Sinking Masquerade Ball; Seattle. Soundtrack for performance: Paper Planes by M.I.A.
Part of the herb section of my new café haunt. The café is in the back with booths and a bar and a paper maché dragon climbing up above the bar. The ‘punk rock kids’ who run the café also seem to be artists. Thin with tattoos and piercings and queer seems to be the image of the employees. Perhaps a job at a café one day? I was told about an artist collective that put on an Alice in Wonderland themed burlesque show last Friday. A couple of the people involved were working at the café and hanging out at the café.
Playing around with the Lensbaby lens that I borrowed from my alternative photo class. It’s kind of a bitch to focus.. I wish I had the nikon focusing circle on my canon to handle this. Then again that might not even work with this lens.. I want to actually write a song or two for my accordion. Not really knowing how to play makes this an issue, but I think I will give the buttons all new names, like Fred Baby and the Good Morning Cord.
Pinhole photos and the yellow notepad I write my grocery lists onto. I’m liking this alternative process photography class, but I have found that using a pinhole camera is a pain. Even if close to a darkroom. Especially when both the cameras you planned to use as light meters decide to crap out… Eh. I got the assignment done and hopefully I’m on my way to getting more done. Sadly I missed French club while printing photos. I have still yet to go… here’s to going next week… I had never done a contact print before… I lost some detail, yes, but I think it added some interesting effects. It’s odd taking this upper level course in photography because, yes I know how to do it, but I have no idea where everything is or how some of the machines work. The enlargers here seem much more advanced than the others that I have used in the past. No complaint.
